Welcome to Priory’s Southern Peninsula Services

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for vulnerable young people across the UK.

We make a real and lasting difference to young people’s lives through quality education and care solutions. Whether we’re working with young people on the autistic spectrum, with our society’s most vulnerable young people, or with those displaying challenging behaviours, we believe everyone deserves the best chance to grow, and to get an education that equips them for a brighter future.

We go beyond the tried and tested to get to new and individual solutions, by integrating our educational expertise and first-class care and environments. Our ambitious and energetic colleagues help make our company what it is and we are looking for more people who have got what it takes.

Service Vision

From a foundation of safety, we provide children and young people with access to enriching experiences and opportunities, which will secure emotional resilience and enable life-long learning and growth. We actively engage with our children and young people in their person-centred planning through a focus on 3 key elements:

  • Safety
  • Life
  • Growth

We actively support children and young people to overcome any significant barriers to safety, to learning, to their quality of life and their personal growth, either on entry to our service or when they arise.

About our homes in the Southern Peninsula.

All of our homes are lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the South West on the outskirts of Dartmoor which lends itself to all sorts of outdoor activities from canoeing to trekking. There are some fantastic beaches within short travelling distances to both north and south coast where young people are often taken for fun and educational trips alike throughout the year.

 Children’s Home – Gunnislake Oaks

This is a 4 bedded primarily a home for those with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) situated in a lively Cornish town with access to rail and bus routes to Tavistock, Plymouth and beyond. The young people will be part of a modern “family” home with shared living areas, large garden and lovely views of the Tamar Valley.

Children’s Home – Gunnislake Hall

This is a 5 bedded home separated into a 2 bedded annex and 3 bedded main house. This property used to be a small school house, is homely with original “quirky” features which lends itself to be a lovely home suited to the young people here.  It is nestled on the outskirts of a quiet Cornish village with far reaching views of the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor and it also backs onto fields with cows for company!

Children’s Home – Tavistock

This is a large 5 bedded home sat in the historic town of Tavistock. Tavistock has good transport links and a lively town centre with sports facilities, theatre, markets and fairs. The home sits atop of a hill with views of Dartmoor and Tavistock.  It is a beautiful Victorian building with large bright and airy rooms with large grounds of 2/3rds of an acre offering complete privacy for young people to enjoy should they feel the need for some running around and fun. This home is due to open early this year and are currently recruiting.
